The Department of Counselor Education and Rehabilitation in the Kremen School of Education and Human Development at California State University, Fresno is excited to invite applications for a tenure-track, academic year position at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate will support the preparation of graduate students for a Master of Science degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Student Affairs and College Counseling (SACC). The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in the SACC program.  In addition, the successful candidate will: supervise practicum and fieldwork experiences; advise students in master’s project, thesis work, or comprehensive examination as a culminating experience; conduct scholarly and applied research; and, engage in service-related activities. The successful candidate will also assist with obtaining CACREP accreditation. Specific assignments are dependent on departmental needs and the background of the individual.

Qualifications:

 Required Education:

  1. Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Counselor Education or other closely related disciplines with an emphasis in counseling psychology, college student personnel, higher education, or student affairs from an accredited institution.
  2. Applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, for an appointment, requirements for the doctorate must be completed by August 1, 2021.

Preferred Education

  1. An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) from a CACREP accredited program.

Required Experience:

  1. Teaching experience in higher education.
  2. Student affairs and/or counseling related experience in a higher education setting.
  3. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working with faculty, staff, and students from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred Experience: 

  1. Ability to teach, advise, and mentor graduate students
  2. Ability to effectively establish and maintain on-campus and community partnerships
  3. Ability to teach general counseling, clinical, SACC specialization, and/or other courses as required by the department
  4. Evidence of scholarly research and publications related to higher education, college counseling, and/or college student development
  5. Active engagement in relevant professional organizations (e.g., ACA, ACES, AERA, ACPA, NASPA)
  6. Experience with or knowledge of CACREP accreditation standards

The Kremen School of Education and Human Development has been nationally accredited (NCATE/CAEP) since 1954, offering 34 distinct credentials, many Masters' degree programs, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. The Department of Counselor Education and Rehabilitation includes four counseling programs (Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling; Marriage, Family and Child Counseling; School Counseling; and, Student Affairs and College Counseling).
