Assistant Director of Teacher Education       

The Assignment:

Kremen is creating a new position, the Assistant Director of Teacher Education, to work with the Dean and Associate Dean in educator preparation and accreditation efforts. This position would be filled by an associate or full professor who has a strong research background in educator quality, assessment, or program evaluation in either school counseling or teacher preparation. The Assistant Director would be charged to assess program quality, lead programmatic changes, and collaborate with faculty working on reports to both state and national accreditation agencies. In addition, the Assistant Director will assist the Dean in designing new initiatives, building partnerships, and representing Kremen with community partners. The Assistant Director will exemplify Kremen’s commitment to social justice and equity.

The position will involve a 6 WTU course release each semester, with an additional 3 WTUs of release each semester during the 2021-22 academic year in order to set up systems and procedures that will ensure strong data collection, data management, analysis, and reporting to ensure a successful accreditation site visit.



  • Ed.D or Ph.D. with a strong research background in educator quality, assessment, or program evaluation in either counseling or teacher preparation
  • Associate or Full Professor by the start date (Fall 2021)
  • At least 8 years of teaching experience in K-16 teaching (a significant portion in K-12)
  • Leadership in accreditation efforts
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff across campus
  • Experience with assessment and data analysis
  • Proficiency with technology
  • Proven leadership in school partnership efforts
  • Experience directing professional development efforts

The Assistant Director will:

  • Ensure that meaningful, appropriate, accurate data and supporting documentation is available to meet the decision-making and accreditation needs of the University;
  • Provide support to each College/School (CAH, COSS, CHHS, KOEHD, JCAST) related to professional accreditation requirements and develop and maintain a collection of data and reports to support program accreditation.
  • Implement and monitor the systematic review of programs and services in support of the college mission and strategic plan
  • Prepare data and process information necessary for state and federal government-mandated reports; generate and provide data for accountability reports and develop statistical comparisons
  • Assist Associate Dean with the leadership, design, and facilitation of Data Summits 2-4 times per year
  • Analyze and communicate trends, outcomes, strengths, and weaknesses pertinent to accreditation to key stakeholders
  • Provide oversight and guidance to faculty and staff working directly with student academic performance assessment and curriculum evaluation, directing initiatives to improve both assessment and evaluation strategies
  • Collaborate with a variety of agencies to further goals regarding teacher preparation. Represent Kremen at state and national meetings and participate as a member of various School committees
  • Lead planning for accreditation site visits
  • Collaborate with the Office of Clinical Practice and Program Coordinators to develop and strengthen student teaching, residency, and intern experiences
  • Collaborate with FAST II coordinator in data collection and analysis efforts
  • Connect with district and school personnel on issues related to clinical practice, including student teaching placements, mentor teacher assignment, and other aspects of the student teaching experience
  • Support faculty and departments in curriculum development associated with teacher preparation coursework
  • Strategize with Dean, Associate Dean, and Department Chairs on planning and budget related to cohort and residency course offerings
  • Attend workshops, conferences, and leadership meetings related to accreditation, residency, and work related to clinical practice.
  • Work to integrate teacher education and school counseling clinical placement efforts
  • Participate in other initiatives as designated by the Dean
