Financial Aid Systems Specialist
(Administrative Analyst/Specialist - Exempt I)

Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary: $3,897 per month

Full Classification Salary Range: $3,897 - $7,051

  • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Systems, the Financial Aid Systems Specialist supports the mission of the department and the university by maintaining financial aid business processes and their interface with information systems.  This is a vital position in the Financial Aid & Scholarships office, which also works collaboratively with a variety of University departments and their systems. Active participation in relevant committees/user group/list serves enhances this role. The Financial Aid Systems Specialist must combine a high level of information systems competencies with an in-depth knowledge of the complex financial aid regulatory requirements.

 

Key Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the federal and state financial aid program.
  • Knowledge of computer office systems and ability to use a broad range of technology systems, software packages and databases. (Microsoft Office, Google, PeopleSoft)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of the technical aspects of the PeopleSoft Financial Aid module including the processes, forms and reports.
  • High level of independent problem solving, active decision making, judgment, and technical skills strongly preferred.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in financial aid administration.
