The Department of Construction Management in the Lyles College of Engineering at California State University, Fresno seeks applicants that can:

  • develop and teach courses in construction management;
  • advise students;
  • contribute to Department, College, and University level committee work;
  • participate in Community service;
  • engage in student-related activities such as supervising student projects, advising student clubs, coaching teams for student competitions, etc.;
  • engage in professional and scholarly activities such as publishing academic and professional works, leading externally funded applied research, participating in related organizations, etc.;
  • build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners to ensure the continued growth of construction management education at Fresno State;
  • and, demonstrate a commitment to teaching, student mentoring, and working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Specific assignments are dependent on departmental needs and the background of the individual.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  1. A Master’s degree in construction, architecture, or related field from an accredited institution (degree must be completed by August 1st, 2022)
  2. Demonstrated professional understanding of the US construction industry or comparable international experience (usually 5 years or more of professional experience or 3 years of professional experience for individuals with an earned doctorate in construction or a construction-related field.)
  3. The ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic background

Preferred Experience:

  1. Earned doctorate in construction management, construction engineering, architecture, or related field from an accredited institution (degrees must be completed by August 1st, 2022)
  2. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction engineering, architecture, or related field from an accredited institution
  3. A construction-related specialization, which can include but is not limited to Design/Build Management, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), Lean Construction, and Data Analytics
  4. Undergraduate- or graduate-level teaching experience
  5. Experience leading design/build projects
  6. Experience developing and leading external grants
  7. Experience completing professional and scholarly activities such as publishing academic and professional works
  8. Professional certifications (CCM, DBIA Professional, LEED AP, etc.)  or licensures (PE, RA, etc.) related to the construction industry

About the College and Department:

The Department of Construction Management in the Lyles College of Engineering, California State University, Fresno, provides a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management accredited program through the American Council of Construction Education. The department also provides a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies, a Master of Science in Construction Management, and a Minor in Construction Management. The Department of Construction Management is one of the fastest-growing departments on campus and is well known for curricular innovation, service learning, and industry engagement which provides opportunities to its diverse study body. The BSCM program provides practical experience through embedded service-learning and a mandatory, credit-based internship program that successfully prepares all students for jobs at graduation. The department also has a rich history of collaborating with construction companies throughout the nation. In recent years, the department successfully secured national, regional, and local grants to conduct applied research. The department seeks candidates that will help achieve its mission to develop character, build leaders, and sustain learning, and continue the growth of the department in teaching, research, and service.
