Supplemental Instruction (SI) Assistant Coordinator
(SSP II)

Compensation and Benefits

Full classification Salary Range: $4,304 to $6,120 per month

  • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of the Learning Center, the Supplemental Instruction (SI) Assistant Coordinator is responsible for assisting the SI Coordinator with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the SI program. The SI Assistant Coordinator will work directly with the SI Coordinator to assess university and programming needs and advance the program in accordance with those needs. This position will lead efforts associated with creating, evaluating, and revising SI training content and student staff recruitment. The SI Assistant Coordinator will aim to increase student awareness of SI services, utilization of program offerings and academic impact of student usage.

  • Analyze trends, theories and high impact practices of student retention and learning and support the development and implementation of educational services based on this analysis

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a related field and two years of professional experience in student services work or related field.
  • A Master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
  • Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.

Within the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management (DOSAEM), the Learning Center serves as the centralized hub of academic support services for the Fresno State campus community. This thriving department holds space for meaningful engagement, rapport building and encouraging students to grow intellectually as critical thinkers. The Learning Center advances student success by actively using effective learning strategies to improve content understanding and course grades. The associated uniquely structured programs, Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction (SI) and SupportNet, work together to boldly integrate the culture and values of each student to inspire a community of life-long learners.

This will require the filing of a Statement of Economic Interest on an annual basis and the completion of training within six (6) months of assuming office and every two (2) years thereafter.
