Graduate Assistant for the Doctoral Program of Educational Leadership
The Department of Educational Leadership prepares candidates to effectively lead in educational organizations in the Central Valley of California and beyond. Our graduates serve in leadership roles in diverse educational settings such as public and private schools, colleges, universities, and other related educational agencies. We have three graduate programs: Master of Arts in Educational Leadership Administration, Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and Leadership (HEAL) and the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership. Program graduates are continuously recognized as scholar-practitioners, instructional leaders, and agents of change in P-12 schools and in higher education.
Anticipated Appointment Dates: This position is opened until filled. If you have applied and no other positions are available, you will be notified.
Spring 2022: January - May 2022 (dats are to be determined by project)
Hours/Units per week: Students can work up to 20-hours per week; GAs are appointed per unit
- 1-unit is equivalent to 2.66 hrs per week (40hrs x 1-unit/15-unit)
- 1.3-wtus - 6.5-wtus (dependent on courses and number of section(s) assigned)
- 3-6 units
- no more than 6-units, (or not to exceed 7.50 total wtus in one semester, which equates to 20-hours per week)
Job Duties may include the following, but will be dependent upon the specific course to which the teaching associate will be assigned, as well as upon the specific needs of the faculty member in charge of the course:
- Developing processes and strategies to foster engagement with the Ed.D. Program community, namely the program’s students, alumni, larger Fresno State community, and prospective students;
- Collaborating with the Program Advisor to create a system for tracking program alumni, updating their contact information, and identifying opportunities for alumni to connect with current students and community members;
- Coordinating programs such as alumni speaker webinars and socials;
- Identifying program alumni and collecting information from them to share on social media and the program website;
- Assist in identifying potential community partners;
- Determining needs of our program alumni and offering resources.
- Must have an earned Bachelor’s degree
- Must be enrolled in the HEAL master’s program at Fresno State
- Experience working in higher education and/or student affairs
- Experience developing and delivering surveys using Google Forms and Qualtrics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Google Suite and MS Office Understanding of social justice and equity issues in higher education
- Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic background
- Desire to develop student affairs professional competencies
- Interest in supporting graduate student success
- Experience in analyzing and delivering reports on data from surveys
- Experience using Mailchimp and Canva online softwares

The California State University Graduate Assistant Classification and Standards
- Evaluations: GA's may be evaluated per CBA, Unit 11, Article 8
- Salary: Each department has different salary scales. Please check with your department for your Base Salary. The monthly salary is calculated based on the Weighted Teaching Units assigned.
- Salary Schedule: The salary schedule can be found on the Faculty Affairs website here.
- Assignments: Assignments are made by Department Chair or Program Coordinator after consultation with the teaching associate.
- Duties Form: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Unit 11, a Duties Form (see Appendix E of the CBA) will be completed between the Department and Academic Student Employee. This form substantiates the jobs included for the department teaching associate position.
- The Graduate Assistant is a student position for those actively enrolled in a graduate program at Fresno State.
- Students are limited to 20-hours of part-time work on campus.
