Compensation and Benefits
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $3,120 - $3,276 per month
Full classification Salary Range: $3,120 - $4,592 per month
- This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.

Under the general supervision of the Department Administrative Assistant and the Department Chair, the incumbent will perform a wide variety of complex clerical assignments in support of the Psychology department’s faculty and students. These assignments include prioritizing and assigning clerical work for student assistants, preparing, tracking and monitoring expenditures for student and faculty travel, interpreting university policy for both students and faculty in regards to admissions/registration and a variety of other areas related to an academic department, hiring student assistants for faculty and other special projects, providing administrative/clerical support to the department graduate committee and graduate students, maintain department inventory of supplies, prepare and track department purchase requisitions, electronically admit students into our graduate programs, serve as the department’s safety coordinator and be responsible for maintaining all files to meet OSHA standards. Assist with the department participation in the CSM Commencement. Update and help maintain the Psychology department’s webpage, twitter and Instagram accounts.
- Thorough knowledge of current office methods, procedures and practices.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and other software – Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and Google applications.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and multiple interruption environment while successfully completing many different clerical tasks in a timely manner and also maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to adjust priorities and be responsive to short-notice requests.
- Apply judgment, discretion, and initiative in the performance of the above described job duties.
- Learn, interpret and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures

Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of progressively responsible clerical experience.
The Department of Psychology is concerned with the scientific study of human behavior and consciousness, and the applications of these findings to the areas of home, school work, and social relations. It covers topics such as learning, cognition, motivation, personality, psychophysiology, sexuality, group processes, cultural factors, and abnormal behavior. We are one of the largest academic departments on campus, offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees to our majors.
