Compensation and Benefits


Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $3900 - $4286 per month 

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $2921 - $5118 per month

  • This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.
  • This position is on a 10/12 Pay Plan which is equivalent to ten months of salary distributed over a 12-month period.  The scheduled months off will be June and July.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

The successful candidate will work closely with other staff pianists, faculty, students, and staff to provide necessary accompaniment support for Music Department instruction and performances. This is a full-time position that requires evening and weekend availability.

Key Qualifications

  • Equal working knowledge of instrumental, vocal, operatic, and choral repertory
  • Exceptional piano skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to:
    • Follow visual cues of the conductor
    • Work a flexible scheduling including some night and weekend work
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, students and staff from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds

Education and Experience

  • A baccalaureate degree in music 
  • Two or more years experience accompanying and collaborating with instrumentalists and singers at the university or professional level
  • Knowledge of instrumental, vocal, operatic, and choral repertory

Department Summary

The Department of Music at Fresno State was one of the original departments when the university was founded in 1911, and continues to be a leader in music education and artistic performance in the Central Valley and the state at large. The Department has a busy performance schedule of over 150 performances a year, programming full symphonic and choral works, operas, festivals and master classes. The Department of Music also provides undergraduate and graduate instruction in music for those planning for professional careers as performers, composers, conductors, public school teachers and studio teachers, as well as those preparing for advanced degrees.

This position may be a "designated position" under the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. This will require the filing of a Statement of Economic Interest on an annual basis and the completion of training within six (6) months of assuming office and every two (2) years thereafter.
