Faculty Affairs Analyst
(Confidential Administrative Support II)

Compensation and Benefits

Salary is competitive and negotiable depending on the strength of qualifications. 

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Manager of Faculty Affairs, this Generalist provides comprehensive analysis, administrative and technical support, and consultation on Unit 3 (Faculty) and Unit 11 (Academic Student Employee) employment matters.  This position also assists in grievance preparation in a team-based environment.  The scope of work is comprehensive in nature. The incumbent performs duties that require analysis of information which contributes significantly to the development of management positions (confidential information).

 

Key Qualifications

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of public personnel administration and employee relations functions.
  • Knowledge and skills in information processing, data maintenance, report writing, and analysis of data associated with operating and maintaining an HRIS.
  • Knowledge of employment or payroll service functions and processes.
  • Comprehend and integrate regulations, policies, and procedures for employment transactions.
  • Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of multiple HR functional processes.
  • Make recommendations and maintain confidentiality.
  • Work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, team-oriented environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Accurately assess complex employment transactions and apply the appropriate code(s), rules, or other policies.
  • Accurately assess the personnel action and evaluate the impact on benefits, absence management, and other systems to ensure employees receive timely and accurate enrollment.
  • Conduct research and provide analysis of HR processes.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited College or University and two years of directly related work experience, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position's essential functions.
  • Required professional experience demonstrating program policy research, analysis, application, communications, reporting, and evaluation using technological applications.

 

Department Summary

The Office of Faculty Affairs serves and advises faculty and administration on all matters relating to academic personnel. This includes but is not limited to, appointment, reappointment, tenure, promotion, leaves, and grievances. This office is designated to handle all matters related to Unit 3 (Faculty) and Unit 11 (Academic Student Employees).

Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with California State University, Fresno. This position may be a "designated position" under the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. This will require the filing of a Statement of Economic Interest on an annual basis and the completion of training within six (6) months of assuming office and every two (2) years thereafter.
