(Media Production Specialist III)

Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary: $4,834 per month 

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,391 - $7,945 per month

  • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

The Video Producer supports University Advancement and Fresno State by producing videos and motion graphics that effectively share the University’s strategic priorities and stories to internal and external audiences. This position is responsible for a broad range of projects, including production for web, social media, advertising campaigns, live events, and broadcast television. This position reports to the Director of University Brand Strategy and Marketing.

This position serves a strategic role in implementing the mission and vision of the department’s video team as well as creating visual communications that support the University Advancement marketing plan. The Video Producer is responsible for collaborating with the creative team and other on-campus entities to interpret creative briefs and develop forward-thinking visual solutions that engage target audiences. This position is responsible for video production including pre-production, scheduling, shooting and editing, for a variety of video formats and creative types. The incumbent should have an understanding of motion graphics visual effects, with the ability to produce graphic animations and a desire to gain deeper experience in this field.

This position must be aware of new trends in video production, including the ever-evolving video styles unique to platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, and incorporate those trends into office projects. The incumbent should also have a passion for the video industry, and be open to inspiration from others to enhance the team’s overall creativity.

The Video Producer should be comfortable multitasking and meeting tight deadlines, with a meticulous eye on quality control of the final product. This position manages assignments and allocates time to duties mentioned below based upon direction from the Director of Brand Strategy and Marketing. The Director will communicate priorities and time allocation. 

 

Key Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of end-to-end video production techniques and equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of motion graphics animation.
  • Knowledge of captioning and accessibility techniques and systems.
  • Knowledge of the full range of production techniques including video and sound recording, graphics, editing methods and related software programs and equipment including social media.
  • Knowledge of related safety and training requirements.
  • Ability to develop, create, stage and/ or produce professional quality visuals and evaluate production effectiveness in meeting objectives.
  • Ability to contribute to end-to-end video production beginning with discussions and brainstorming with client and ending with finished video delivered to client in appropriate format.
  • Effectively provide direct customer support related to digital video project scoping, development, and production.
  • Strong organizational skills to independently manage and coordinate all facets of production, budgets, and other projects.
  • Ability to edit video content using Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Strong sensibilities regarding music, emotion, and imagery.
  • Keen eye for design and aesthetics.
  • Must be able to show a portfolio of previous video projects that showcase cinematography, motion graphics/animation and video editing skills.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and prepare detailed written reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex communication problems.
  • Organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and projects under competing deadlines and maintain flexibility in response to constantly shifting priorities.
  • Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of productions.
  • Interpersonal, and communication skills, including ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and ability to collaborate across organizational lines.
  • Passion for motion graphics and stays up to date on the latest motion graphic/animation trends.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, film/video production, art/design, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in direct customer support related to digital video project scoping, development and production; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in After Effects CC: animation, graphics and titles, or equivalent system.
  • Experience working in Photoshop CC: graphics and titles, or equivalent system.
    • Preferred Experience:
      • Experience in lighting for video productions, and audio set-up and strike.
      • Experience in higher education.
