Compensation and Benefits

The Anticipated Hiring Salary Range is $135,000 - $140,000 per year and is competitive and negotiable depending on the strength of qualifications. This is a CSU Management Personnel Plan (MPP) position.

  • Area of consideration is limited to on-campus, state funded employees only.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

The Associate Dean is an Administrator III position within the California State University Management Personnel Plan (MPP) and serves at the pleasure of the University President. The Associate Dean serves on the Division Leadership Team and reports directly to the Dean of the division of Continuing and Global Education.

As a senior administrator in the Division of Continuing and Global Education, the Associate Dean serves as chief business officer for the extended education unit and oversees all financial and administrative functions. The role also provides strategic leadership for the development of extension Extended Education programs and serves as the primary liaison to all university offices for student services. As delegated by the Dean, the Associate Dean represents the Division internally at Fresno State, in the local community, and throughout the CSU. 

 

Key Qualifications

  • Knowledge of principles of institutional planning, budget processes and grant oversight.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective leadership, motivation, and performance evaluation.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in resource allocation, human resources, and risk management.
  • Knowledge of computer office systems and ability to use a broad range of technology, systems, and software packages (Microsoft Office Suite, Google apps.).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, practices and trends related to student development and resources to promote student success.
  • Ability to facilitate group participation, consensus building and foster employee development through coaching, counseling, and training.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and make strategic business decisions.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and prepare detailed written reports and correspondence.
  • Understand, interpret, and implement CSU Extended Education policies and procedures and exercise sound, independent judgment within general policy guidelines and operating parameters.
  • Demonstrated experience with interprofessional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability of working within an ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse campus and community. Evidence of ability to work well with people at all levels and build sustainable relationships.
  • Exercise sound administrative judgment and initiative in the development of new methods and procedures and in the solution of difficult personnel problems.
  • Assist and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for advancing the mission of the division.
  • Reviews and evaluates administrative and support systems and internal relationships; identifies opportunities for improvement and implements changes to standard operating procedures to enhance services.
  • Organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and projects under competing deadlines and maintain flexibility in response to constantly shifting priorities.

Education and Experience

  • An earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership in a complex organization directly supervising employees.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with Local Extended Education Trust funds (CERF).
    • Preferred Skills:
      • Minimum of 2 years of leadership in a complex organization directly supervising represented employees.
      • Understanding of campus strategic priorities.
      • Knowledge and experience working with data to promote student success.
    • Special conditions of employment and positions designations:
      • The person holding this position is considered a “mandated reporter” under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
      • This position will have a duty to report to the Campus Title IX Officer information pertaining to victims of sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, dating/domestic violence, and stalking as required by CSU Executive Order 1095.
      • This position is a "designated position" in the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. The incumbent of this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.
      • The person holding this position must meet Passport Acceptance Agent requirements as stated in USCIS §51.22.
