Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,300 to $4,800 per month 

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,981 to $7,204 per month

This is a full-time, probationary, non-exempt position. Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.

This position is eligible for remote work pursuant to Fresno State's remote work guidelines and the CSU policy requiring that all work be performed within the State of California.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Director of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE), the incumbent will extract, compile, analyze and report data on students, instructional offerings, personnel and other aspects of the university and its external environment as requested. Responsibilities include maintaining and querying large-scale relational databases; troubleshooting and manipulating data; creating reports; filling ad-hoc data requests and reports; designing and conducting analytical, research and evaluation studies with interpretive analyses; presenting findings in narrative and graphic forms; and effectively interacting with the university community and external constituencies in carrying out these responsibilities. This position will also need to plan and coordinate various meetings between organizations. The ability to think in a logical, sequential manner is critical for this position and may be demonstrated through experience such as computer programming; i.e., writing codes, scripts, or syntax. A strong customer service orientation is essential, as is the ability to work both independently and in a team. A strong sense of responsibility in meeting deadlines and accurately handling details is required.

 

Key Qualifications

  • Knowledge of a variety of research techniques (e.g., experimental, quasi-experimental, qualitative) and the preparation of research reports for a variety of audiences.
  • Knowledge of principles of data visualization.
  • Intermediate statistical principles and procedures, including ANOVA, regression, and experience with one or more statistical packages other than Excel. (such as R, SPSS, or SAS).
  • Ability to independently conduct advanced analytical studies and use appropriate advanced statistical techniques.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both written and oral, and prepare detailed written reports and information.
  • Independently conduct a simple research project or support a complex research project. 
  • Assist in preparation of questionnaires, gathering and analyzing research data, and in compiling data for reports and summaries in tabular, graphic and pictorial form.
  • Write basic scripting code in a computer language such as R, SPSS syntax, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Produce static data visualizations in a tool such as R, Excel, or SPSS.
  • Analyze situations accurately and develop effective courses of action.

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a quantitative or research field, plus one year of experience in research or statistical work.

    • One year of graduate study in the social sciences, economics, mathematics, statistics, public or business administration, or engineering fields may be substituted for the required experience.   

    • Additional experience which has demonstrated that the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledges and abilities delineated above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
