Compensation and Benefits


Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $3,761 - $4,500 per month 

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,761 - $6,803 per month

  • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.
  • Positions at Fresno State are to perform their work onsite. Some positions, depending upon University needs and operations, may be eligible for remote work, one day per week, pursuant to Fresno State's remote work guidelines and the CSU policy.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the general direction and reporting to the Director of Wellness Services, the Health Communication and Promotion Specialist plays a critical role in informing students about the available health, counseling and wellness services, events and programs offered by the Student Health and Counseling Center.  This position is responsible for the strategic direction, organization, creation and delivery of communication and promotional materials in print and digital media and is also responsible for the Student Health and Counseling Center’s social media platforms and websites. This position requires someone who is well versed in graphic and digital design with the ability to reach college students in new and innovative ways.

This position will supervise a Graphic Design Student Assistant and Marketing Student Assistant.

Day-to-day work is performed independently with general instruction.

 

Key Qualifications

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including strong public speaking, listening and interpretive skills.
  • Ability to develop educational materials and media such as pamphlets, audio and video materials, and present information accurately, effectively and concisely.
  • Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion and initiative to address problems and develop practical, thorough and creative solutions.
  • Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects.
  • Strong writing and editing skills to quickly produce clear and concise standard documents for internal and external publication.
  • Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience designing print and digital media.
  • Experience recording, editing and producing videos.
  • Experience with Adobe Suite software programs.
  • Experience running social media platforms.
  • Experience working in a college or university setting.
  • Experience working in healthcare communications, social media and marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a highly consultative and collaborative environment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year regionally accredited institution or comparable experience in the field of media relations, communications, or with substantial coursework in a related field.
  • At least two years of progressively responsible professional experience in public relations, marketing, creating/developing multimedia content, or using social media in a business/institutional setting.
