Assistant Professor – Tenure Track
Fall (August) 2026
Position Summary:
The Department of Agricultural Business at California State University, Fresno (Fresno State) is searching for a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor to instruct undergraduate students, conduct scholarly and applied research, and engage in service-related activities. The primary teaching and research fields will be in agricultural business management, with secondary focus in areas such as agri-food retailing and wholesaling, sustainable business practices in agriculture and food production, or emerging fields in agricultural and food business. Specific assignments are dependent on departmental needs and the background of the individual.

Qualifications:
Required Education (from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent):
- A doctorate (Ph.D.) in Agricultural Business, Agricultural Economics, or closely related disciplines from an accredited (or equivalent) institution.
- Applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, for appointment, the doctorate must be completed by August 1, 2026.
Required Experience:
- Evidence of teaching at the university level or interest in undergraduate teaching,
- Evidence of scholarly productivity,
- Evidence of effective communication skills,
- A commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds,
- Experience in using instructional technologies and pedagogical methods in teaching or demonstrates willingness and ability to do so.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience establishing close working relationships with agricultural industries, organizations, and/or governmental agencies,
- Experience or interest in supervision of undergraduate projects, student research, advising student clubs, and mentoring national competition teams, including accompanying students to professional events,
- Experience obtaining external grants/contracts,
- Experience working collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams,
- A record of active participation or leadership roles in relevant professional organizations.

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. The anticipated hiring range is $7,400-$7,700 per month for an Assistant Professor (12 monthly payments per academic year). As a member of the 23-campus CSU System, we offer an extremely competitive benefits package.
