Assistant Women's Soccer Coach
(Coaching Assistant 12 Mo)

Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary: $6,288/month

Full CSU Classification Salary Range:$6,288 - $7,658/month

  • This full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week) position is temporary and expected to end on or before December 31, 2026. Extension of this assignment is contingent upon sufficient additional funding and satisfactory performance.
  • Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

  • Coaching: Assist the head coach in planning and directing the education of student-athletes in the techniques, skills, and theory of the sport.
  • Physical Development: Support the conditioning and training of athletic team members in conjunction with strength and conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, and team physicians.
  • Academics: Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of academic progress and eligibility status of student-athlete team members, in cooperation with Academic Support Services.
  • Compliance: Coordinate with the Asst. A.D. for Compliance with NCAA, MWC, and university rules and regulations.
  • Travel: Organize, coordinate, schedule, and conduct team and recruiting travel duties within strict budgetary parameters.
  • Outreach: Assist in the promotion of fundraising activities, community service and awareness, and the promotion of events.
  • Recruiting: Assist in the recruitment of quality student-athletes to raise program performance, specifically aid in the management of recruiting information and prospect database.
  • Camps and Clinics: Organize, coordinate, schedule, promote, and conduct soccer camps and clinics.
  • Equipment: Organize, coordinate, and order inventory of existing and forecasted apparel and equipment needs.
  • Operations: Assist in the daily functions of the soccer program and its many facets and tasks in the office and university environment, as well as required work outside of the office.

 

Key Qualifications

  • Clear knowledge of soccer; modern coaching methodologies, playing techniques, tactics and strategies, to include but not limited goalkeeping unit specific responsibilities.
  • Excellent office and administrative skills, task orientation, and timeline adherence.
  • Experience and understanding of recruitment and development of top athletes; international recruiting contacts a plus.
  • Team scouting, video and match analysis experience highly preferred.
  • Camp/Academy Direction and Coaching experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to support the equity and diversity commitments of the department.
  • Ability to cooperate professionally and collegially with the media, the community, the university and the Athletic department staff and administration.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an institution of higher education which is accredited by one of the six US regional accrediting associations or a recognized equivalent international degree of higher education. Preferably in coaching, physical education, exercise science, psychology, teaching, pedagogy, or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience coaching and/or playing at the college level, preferably at the Division I or II level, or coaching and/or playing semi-professional or professional soccer. International experience a plus.
  • Experience and understanding of elite level sport and recruitment of top student-athletes; facilitation and organization of a recruiting database, recruiting calendar, strategy and coordination; domestic and international recruiting understanding and contacts a plus.
