Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $3,596 - $3,741 per month (Internal employees may be placed at a salary higher than the anticipated range as required by the collective bargaining agreement.)

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,596 - $5,035 per month

  • This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.
  • Area of consideration is limited to on-campus, state funded employees only.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Manager of Custodial Services, the incumbent performs the full range of custodial work and provides lead work direction for other employees engaged in custodial work.

This position may require after-hours and weekend work.

 

Key Qualifications

  • Knowledge:
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of the methods, materials, chemicals, and equipment used in custodial work and of the safety and sanitation practices and measures required.
    • Working knowledge of effective lead practices and techniques.
    • Proficient with basic office computer and software.
  • Abilities:
    • Ability to provide lead work direction, including training others in proper work methods and safety and providing feedback on work performance.
    • Ability to read and write English at a level appropriate for the duties of the position.
    • Ability to use computers to track work orders and order supplies and materials.
    • Ability to establish, promote and maintain cooperative work relationships with others; and analyze situations and take appropriate action.
    • Ability to use two-way radios for communication.
    • Ability to observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required.
    • Ability to perform work involving regular physical activity.

Education and Experience

  • Prior experience, which has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities described above and which has included providing on-the-job training and leadership to others. Typically, this would require one to two years of related custodial experience.
  • A clean driving record and the ability to obtain or have a valid California Driver’s License.
    • Preferred Knowledge:
      • Knowledge of the university structure, organization, and facilities.

Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with California State University, Fresno. This position may be a "designated position" under the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. This will require the filing of a Statement of Economic Interest on an annual basis and the completion of training within six (6) months of assuming office and every two (2) years thereafter.
