Salary
The anticipated salary hiring range is up to $7,881 per month, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The salary range for this classification is $4,094 to $7,881 per month.

Position Information
The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a Business Intelligence Dashboard Developer to be responsible for supporting reporting solutions for legacy applications, dashboard and report maintenance, development, and validation, and supporting legacy application user account auditing and maintenance. The incumbent will work closely with the Data Analytics manager and developers, BIDO data engineers, database administrators, server administrators, application data stewards, and application end-users to reimagine legacy reporting processes in the cloud, including the creation of dashboards in Amazon QuickSight and ongoing user and user role reporting and auditing. The incumbent will support metadata management in the CSU Data Lake by assisting with the organization, integration, and maintenance of metadata to enhance data accessibility and usability. This is a highly collaborative role, with close working relationships among developers, managers, and service stakeholders.
This position is approved for telecommuting (two days telecommuting, three days in office (in-person)) with onsite work at the main headquarters located in Long Beach, California.

Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Manager, Data Analytics, the Business Intelligence Dashboard Developer will perform duties as outlined below:
Maintaining, updating, and evolving legacy applications and reporting through:
-Active participation in agile software development.
-Designing, documenting, and developing reports and dashboards using modern, cloud-based BI Platforms (esp. Amazon QuickSight).
-Quality assurance/validation of applications, dashboards, and reports.
-Building and maintaining organized report library/catalogs using GIT repositories.
Consulting with business owners, end-users, and business process specialists to analyze and document business requirements, user needs, objectives, and desired features including:
-Creating standard documentation and providing metadata for business owners, end users and IT staff.
-Identifying additional business requirements as they arise, translating them into data requirements, and communicating them to the CO Applications manager and team.
-Responding to user support incidents and conducting appropriate research and communication to resolve issues, supporting the resolution of technical issues with project management, clients, vendors, and other contractors.
-Participating in the development and delivery of training to developers and end-users.
User account auditing and maintenance by:
-Assisting with rolling user audits of the CSU data lake.
-Assisting with rolling reporting of user audits to campus stakeholders and systemwide security leads.
Metadata management in the CSU Data Lake:
-Ensuring metadata is accurately captured and maintained for CSU Data Lake assets.
-Collaborating with application owners and data stewards to ensure metadata quality and consistency.
-Utilizing metadata management tools to enhance data discoverability and usability.
Other duties as assigned, including:
-Attending and participating in team meetings and projects as assigned and facilitating and leading meetings as needed.
-Mentoring other team members on how to create user intuitive, well thought out, attractive reporting solutions using the latest tools.
-Helping fellow team members in a team-based work environment and participating on cross-functional and process improvement teams as necessary.
Qualifications
This position requires:
-A bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, or equivalent training and applied experience required.
-Knowledge of automating, scripting, and consolidating data ingestion and data processing tasks (required), preferably in a multi-campus or agency scope.
-Interest in learning applications programming and systems analysis required.
Preferred Qualifications
-Experience working in higher education.
-Working knowledge of enterprise data systems, ideally in a university setting (e.g. PeopleSoft).
-Additional technical skills including experience with R, SQL, Python and/or experience with Cloud technologies like AWS.
-Knowledge of Linux shell programming.
