Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,274 - $5,488 per month

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,274 - $7,684 per month

  • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Working independently under the supervision of the Director of the Office of Innovation and Digital Excellence for Academic Success (IDEAS) or designee, the position supports faculty, academic support units, staff, students, and other campus clients by providing consultation and support to enhance the use and access of technology. This position will serve as the Academic Technology Resource Center (ATRC) specialist, overseeing a number of student assistants working in ATRC, DISCOVERe, and IDEAS. Responsibilities include but are not limited to monitoring ongoing divisional communication, meetings and events. The incumbent will interface and effectively communicate with a diverse group of people; provide advisory service; serve as custodian of all resource information/files for unit activities; and maintain an open and effective work environment and rapport as a key information resource. This position may be assigned to a variety of other tasks including requirement analysis, documentation and quality assurance testing. The position also provides budget analysis administrative oversight for the Office of IDEAS. This position will also be a lead over student assistants, including the hiring process for student assistants. A significant degree of autonomy is afforded the incumbent to ensure that proposal submission deadlines can be met, requiring considerable judgment, discretion, and accountability.

 

Key Qualifications

  • Knowledge of:
    • Working knowledge of processes that ensure data integrity, compliance and adequate internal controls.
    • General knowledge and skills in the office management and administrative field, with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods.
    • Knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques.
    • Advanced proficiency in computer office systems and ability to use a broad range of technology, systems, and software packages (Microsoft Office Suite, Google apps, and Adobe PDF).
    • General knowledge of financial, budgetary, and accounting principles and practices.
    • Experience in supporting state and federal funding proposal development.
  • Skill/Ability to:
    • Participate in planning and development activities and recommend methods to meet programmatic or administrative goals.
    • Skill in the research, development and evaluation of policies and programs, including skill in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
    • Ability to interpret and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures.
    • Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.
    • Ability to train others in new skills and procedures, effectively present ideas and concepts in written or presentation format and use consultative and facilitation skills to gain consensus.
    • Interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and in a team-oriented environment.
    • Ability to organize and plan work and projects including handling multiple priorities.
    • Use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements.
    • Troubleshoot a wide variety of problems and provide senior level administrative and full range front office support, coordinating the clerical and administrative office functions to ensure customer service is provided in a prompt, friendly and efficient manner.

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Three years of professional administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
    • Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
      • Master’s Degree, preferably in an area such as higher education, business, or related field.
      • Experience working in a higher education setting.
      • Adept with information technology and proficient in setting-up, troubleshooting, canvas, and smart classroom infrastructure.
      • Adept with electronic submission systems for proposals, particularly federal systems.
      • Two years of experience supporting development of state or federal funding proposals.
      • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft.

The Office of IDEAS (Innovation and Digital Excellence for Academic Success) consolidates the Center for Faculty Excellence, DISCOVERe, Academic Technology Resource Center and the Accessible Resource Center under one umbrella administered by the Provost's Office. The office ensures that faculty and students have outstanding support for Canvas, Panopto, Zoom, AI and much more. IDEAS will continue the tradition of providing high-level professional development opportunities in the areas of open educational resources, accessible course content, technology, innovation, and pedagogy.
